Netflix: The company that popularized binge-watching said Monday it expects to start charging new customers $1 to $2 a month more for its online video service, depending on their country, later this quarter. Netflix Inc. previously offered unlimited Web viewing for $7.99 a month. The company also reported first-quarter sales, profit and subscriber growth that beat analysts forecasts, according to The Toronto Star, Canada. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said the company is moving to increase rates now because of the rising cost of licensing movies and TV programs and of producing original shows, adding on a webcast that said he also aims to expand profitability in international markets and Watching House of Cards on Netflix is about to get more expensive.
