electoral district: Cox, 41, a supporter of Britain staying in the EU, was shot and stabbed on Thursday by a man who witnesses say shouted "Britain first" in her electoral district in West Yorkshire, according to Nine News Australia. Her murder has left Britain in shock, with campaigning for next week referendum on European Union membership suspended as a mark of respect. British police say right-wing extremism is an important line of inquiry in the murder of MP Jo Cox after a man with suspected neo-Nazi links and a history of mental illness was arrested over the killing. The Queen has written a letter of condolence to Cox husband and on Friday members of the public and MPs laid flowers outside the Houses of Parliament. Officers arrested a 52-year-old man, named by British media as Thomas Mair, near the murder scene and he is being questioned by detectives, who have not yet laid charges. Others put flowers on the houseboat on the River Thames where Cox had lived with her husband and two young children, aged three and five.
