Morning Session: Points and Market

morning session: On Wednesday, the key market gauge lost 32.12 points, according to The Japan Times. The Topix index of all first-section issues ended up 1.38 points, or 0.09 percent, at 1,572.69, after shedding 3.59 points the previous day. The 225-issue Nikkei average rose 12.76 points, or 0.07 percent, to close at 19,590.14. The yen's rise against the dollar pushed down Tokyo stocks early in the morning session. But the yen gained ground as the Fed maintained its projection of two additional rate hikes this year, contrary to speculation among some market players over a faster pace of hikes, brokers said. The Fed decided to raise its benchmark interest rate target at its Federal Open Market Committee meeting held for two days through Wednesday. (news.financializer.com). As reported in the news.
